Situation in 2018 : More than 400,000 people have died because of the Syrian conflict since 2011, according to the World Bank, with 5 million seeking refuge abroad and over 6 million displaced internally, according to UN agencies. By June 2017, the UN also estimated that 540,000 people were still living in besieged areas.
Itinerary in 2007 : Damascus – Busra – Maaloula – Hama – Aleppo – Latakia – Tartus – Arwad Island – Damascus – Palmyra – Damascus.
Highlights of Syria in 2007 : Old City of Damascus – Mount Qassioun, Damascus – Umayyad Mosque, Old City of Damascus – Souq al-Hamidiyyeh, between the Citadel And the Omayyad Mosque, Damascus – Site of Palmyra – Aleppo Old City & Saint Simon Citadel – Arwad Island near Tartus – Norias Park in Hamah – Apamea column street – Dead City of Serjilla (Most of the mentioned sites has been unfortunately damaged or destructed because of the Syrian civil war)
